Best Sativa strains of all time | Top 5
1. Sour Diesel
Sour Diesel is one of the best-loved Sativa strains available and consists of 90% Sativa and 10% Indica. The outward appearance of its leaves and buds indicates its propensity to provide great highs. Sour Diesel has stocky, rounded calyxes, pale green with darker green leaves coated in resin, and pistils which are hugely varied in colour, from burnt orange to delicate peach.
Effects
The pungent, heady fumes that emerge from a Sour Diesel spliff show that there is no mystery surrounding the origins of its name. Its strong petrol smell with citric notes will tantalise all your sense as you embark on a thrilling, euphoric high.
Growing
Sour Diesel does well in a warm, arid climate with stable temperatures of about 31℃. Keep soil acidity levels of pH 5.8 – 6.0.
Sour Diesel responds well to the Sea of Green (SOG) or Screen of Green (SCROG) methods. It proliferates during the first three weeks of flowering so you would be well-advised to use one of these training methods to increase the number of buds on your plants.
2. Super Silver Haze
Super Silver Haze is a true prize-winner, easily taking first place in the High Times Cannabis Cup in the years 1997, 1998 and 1999. It is a blend of Skunk, Haze, and Northern Lights that will blow your socks off.
Effects
The smell of Super Silver Haze is hard to describe, but unforgettable when experiencing it. It has burnt toffee notes with traces of diesel and lemon. Its delectable aroma is one of the reasons why Super Silver Haze is one of the most-loved and best Sativa strains in the world.
Super Silver Haze offers an other-worldly ethereal high that will effectively make all your cares vanish away, as well as helping you feel more energized and focussed. It is also beneficial for medicinal purposes, alleviating anxiety, stress and depression.
Growing
Super Silver Haze responds particularly well to hydroponic cultivation, and we recommended growing indoors, especially for novice growers. Flowering occurs between ten and twelve weeks.
3. Blue Dream
Blue Dream is a Sativa-dominant variety with a high percentage of THC. It delivers a powerful buzz without rendering the user stoned to the point of not being able to function.
Effects
Blue Dream originated in California and became popular because of its ability to affect moods and creativity, at the same time as offering a sense of calm and euphoria. Both recreational and medicinal users love it as it can be used to combat a range of psychological conditions.
Growing
Blue Dream has a reputation in the cannabis sector for being one of the most straightforward strains to grow. However, it wants to grow tall — plants can easily hit the 4-to-6 footmark without even trying. Blue Dream will prosper in both indoor and outdoor conditions, as long as you protect it from extremes of weather.
4. Jack Widow
Jack Widow is an intriguing Sativa-dominant hybrid that was created in the USA. This Sativa strain is a cross between White Widow and Jack Herer. The buds are quick to mature and are ready for harvest after only sixty days. Jack Widow features beautiful nuggets coloured in bright shades of green, orange, and purple, adorned with sticky crystals and red/orange pistols.
Effects
Jack Widow has a delicious citron taste. It is a potent weed not suitable for novices, thanks to its high THC content of 18-20%. Jack Widow has excellent relaxing properties and will swiftly induce mild cerebral euphoria, as well as boosting mood, energising the mind, and enhancing focus. Jack Widow is also a mild analgesic and helps to relieve nausea.
Growing
Jack Widow takes approximately 65 days to flower when grown indoors. Outdoor harvest is in October, but we recommend growing indoors to boost your chances of a successful harvest.
5. Pure Power Plant
This plant is rated as one of the best Sativa strains of all-time. Pure Power Plant seduces by its early flowering of only eight weeks and by the strange shape of its buds. It is a plant which presents very particular, very green tones, while the pistils grow by adopting an extraordinary appearance as if they had been cut by the point using scissors. As for its gorgeous flowers, it should be mentioned that they are very bulky and packed, which gives them a hard appearance like a stone.
Effects
Pure Power Plant comes highly recommended for day-time use as it produces a significant head-rush with very little to no physical fatigue. The buzz is a bit stoney though so you are unlikely to experience the most clear-headed or inspirational rush offered by some Sativas. However, it is well-named as it provides a reliably powerful effect.
Growing
As a general rule, Power Plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors and usually offers excellent results, thanks to the meticulous selection and cloning process performed by the producer, resulting in an impressively stable and homogeneous Sativa strain.
More about the Sativa strain
Sativa has always been distinguished by potent and even psychotropic brain effects, which is why it is one of the most used types of cannabis for recreational consumption. However, it also produces other kinds of effects such as stimulating and energizing cerebral or physical sensations, notably enhancing creativity or acting as an antidepressant. However, keep in mind that using Sativa is likely to generate tachycardia and anxiety because of its high psychoactive power, as it produces very high THC levels and insufficient CBD levels to regulate the effects. This means that it is not suitable before resting or sleeping.
Sativa is a strain of cannabis characterized by large, palmate leaves, with very fine leaflets with jagged edges, generally adopting light green tones. It is relatively easy to recognize its leaves because when the first real leaves appear, their characteristics are clearly visible, unlike the leaves of Indica plants.
The growth of Sativa is very vigorous, and it can reach a height of more than 3 meters outdoors, while its size could triple if grown indoors. It grows by forming strongly separated internodes and develops a large branching structure, which allows it to receive light on almost all of its foliage, in addition to the fact that it is well ventilated. Its trunk and branches are not as robust as those of the Indica varieties, so the use of stakes is necessary to protect the plant from possible breakage.
