About Cannabis Varieties for Beginners

Growing cannabis is quite an art, and while you might need some growing experience to fully bring your marijuana plants to their maximum potential, you have to start somewhere. Luckily, we have plenty of feminized cannabis strains that are easy to grow, including photoperiod seeds and autoflower seeds. These cannabis plants are either very hardy, not picky about their growing environment, mold-resistant, or all three and more! We offer a great variety of easy-to-grow seeds with different flavors and effects. You are not limited to one specific type of grow, so if you are looking to buy beginner marijuana seeds, our online seed bank probably has them in stock!

Weed Seeds for Beginners are Suitable for:

Novice Growers

It shouldn't be surprising that seeds for beginners are suitable for beginners. It would defeat the purpose otherwise, wouldn't you think? In any case, you don't have to be afraid that you are limited to a small number of cannabis seeds. Growing marijuana has never been this easy, with so many amazing flavors and effects to choose from. You will only be able to find out what cannabis strain fits your needs best when you grow and try it out for yourself.

Growers who want a smooth growing experience

Anyone can pick up cannabis cultivation. Still, it can demand a big chunk of your time if you cultivate cannabis seeds that are a bit more demanding when it comes to pruning, feeding, and other growing elements. Even experienced growers might want to cut themselves some slack. Growing cannabis with beginner marijuana seeds can be a perfect option when you, as a grower, need the plant to be a bit more self-sufficient. Life can be hectic enough as it is.

Choosing the right Seeds as a beginner

As a beginner, a number of issues are important to consider before you buy cannabis seeds. We feel that simplicity is key when making this choice, as this makes your grow a lot easier. Factors that influence ease of growth are the gender of the plant, flowering type, fungal resistance, and genotype. While all our selected cannabis seeds for beginners are easy enough to grow, you can always make it even easier for yourself, especially if this is your first grow.

Gender

We highly recommend choosing feminized cannabis seeds as a beginner. By choosing feminized seeds, you do not have to go out of your way to recognize and remove the male plants, making the growing process much easier. With non-feminized cannabis seeds, the gender of the plant has not yet been (pre)determined. Per seed, there is an average chance of 50% to get a male plant and a 50% chance of a female plant. For example, planting four regular seeds will likely result in two male and two female plants. Male plants do not create weed flowers but can pollinate the female plant. However, this is not desirable for the development of smokable buds, as these are only developed by (non-pollinated) female plants.

Flowering type

It would be wise for a beginning grower to start with autoflowers. Autoflowering cannabis seeds will bloom after three to four weeks and don't care much about the amount of light or the time of year. This, plus the sturdy genetics, makes autoflower easier to handle. Photoperiod cannabis plants are influenced by the seasons. As time goes by and the season progresses, there will be fewer hours of sunlight. When you get less than twelve hours of sunlight, the plant will start to flower. Indoors, the same applies, and these conditions have to be simulated. While we do offer photoperiod seeds that are easy to grow, they will always be more work than their autoflower counterpart.

Mold resistance

Just like all plants, some weed plants are more susceptible to mold. Mold can be very dangerous to cannabis plants, from making the buds highly unsmokable to outright killing the plant. While there are ways to treat plants affected by this, it is a lot to take care of for beginners. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to buy premium mold-resistant cannabis seeds.

Genotype: Indica or Sativa

Marijuana plants are roughly divided into two categories: Indica and Sativa strains. One of the main distinctions lies in the structure of the plant. Plants grown from Indica seeds are generally easier to maintain compared to plants grown from Sativa seeds. Indica plants produce a lot of buds in a relatively short flowering phase and have a compact structure. It is easier to manage for beginners and ideal for those starting their cultivation journey.

FAQ’s

Q: How many weed seeds do you need to start?

A: It depends on how many weed plants you plan to grow. One cannabis seed can be enough for one plant, but keep in mind that even though our germination rate is really high (over 90%), there is always a chance that a seed might not be able to grow a plant.

Q: Can you put marijuana seeds straight into the soil?

A: You can grow marijuana seeds straight from the soil, yet we would advise to always germinate first. Germination is an easy process, where you make sure the seeds take in a lot of moisture to kickstart your grow. The 'glass of water' and 'paper towel' are two recommended germination methods. You can even combine these methods.

Glass of water

Fill a glass with filtered or pH-neutral water to soak the seeds in and keep it lukewarm. After a few hours, they should sink to the bottom of the cup, but if they don't, push them down carefully. Leave the cup in a dark area for 12 to 24 hours. If the seeds are not sprouting yet after 24 hours, take them out of the water and leave them in a moist place (you can use the paper towel method for this situation as well). This method is effective and affordable but time-sensitive.

Paper Towel

Germinating cannabis seeds using wet paper towels is another method. Use cheap paper towels, as they are non-porous, which is best for the newly sprouted roots. After dampening the paper towel, place the seeds on it before folding it over. To keep the paper towel moist, place a bowl or another plate on top. Check the moisture level every five hours and spray it if the towels feel less damp. The taproot can appear within one to four days, or longer for older seeds. Be careful not to hurt the taproot while checking on the seeds.
