Bubblegum was one of the taller plants early, which is why MindFlowers68 picked it for the outdoor run.

It started in a smaller container than usual, needed compost tea before it really found its feet, then moved into a huge outdoor living soil setup built for a full season. From there, this one turned into a proper outdoor slog.

Weather swings, pests, honeydew from spotted lanternflies, branch loss, a maple limb crashing down, and late powdery mildew all shaped the finish.

Even with all that, Bubblegum still made it through a 142-day run and earned a 10/10 rating from MindFlowers68.

The finish came earlier than planned because powdery mildew was starting to settle in across the garden, and the crop was frozen immediately for fresh frozen processing instead of being dried in the usual way.

Grow Diary

Weeks 0–1 - Germination & Early Seedling

MindFlowers68 soaked the seeds overnight in filtered, aerated water, then started them directly in 1-gallon plastic pots.

That was smaller than the usual starting setup, and Bubblegum was slow to really get going until compost tea was introduced.

By week 1, it was 2 inch tall under an 18-hour light schedule and receiving soluble root zone, liquid kelp, and cal-mag while the big outdoor pots were being prepared.

Bubblegum Week 1Bubblegum Week 1

Weeks 2–3 - Early Vegetative Development

By week 2, Bubblegum was at 3 inch and moving steadily in the 3.79 L starter pot with no smell reported. In week 3, MindFlowers68 picked it for the outdoor run because it was one of the taller plants early.

By then it had reached 4 inch and was still being fed kelp and cal-mag in the same small container.

Bubblegum Week 2Bubblegum Week 3

Weeks 4–5 - Establishment & First Training

Week 4 was about stabilizing the young plants. MindFlowers68 noted some yellowing from watering and pH issues, but a strong Boogie Brew compost tea helped most of them bounce back quickly.

By week 5, Bubblegum was stretching for the sun and growing fast. MindFlowers68 also spotted possible pest damage on the leaves and topped the plant after it reached the top of the cage. At that stage, it was 9 inch tall.

Weeks 6–7 - Outdoor Growth Picks Up

Week 6 moved along without much drama, with Bubblegum continuing to build outdoors. By week 7, it had reached 15 inch and was pushing through very hot conditions, showing that it was settling into the outdoor setup properly.

Bubblegum Week 6Bubblegum Week 7

Weeks 8–9 - Strong Growth Before the Setback

By week 8, Bubblegum had jumped to [106.68:cm] in the large outdoor container while still carrying only a normal smell.

Week 9 slowed slightly after rain, but MindFlowers68 still gave compost tea, took clones, and cleaned up the lower growth a little before the run took its biggest hit.

Bubblegum Week 8Bubblegum Week 9

Weeks 10–11 - Major Damage

This was the roughest patch of the run. A large maple limb crashed down onto the plants, and Bubblegum took the hardest hit, losing some top shoots.

It was a proper setback and easily the most damaging moment in the whole diary.

Bubblegum Week 10Bubblegum Week 11

Weeks 12–13 - Recovery

By week 12, sunny weather had helped Bubblegum recover. MindFlowers68 top-dressed with Gia Green, watered in with Boogie Brew, and used DE on the leaves to help with pests.

By week 13, they said the plant was starting to catch back up after the damage and still looked capable of a decent yield.

Bubblegum Week 12Bubblegum Week 13

Weeks 14–15 - End of Veg and Transition

By week 14, the light cycle had dropped to 14/10 and MindFlowers68 marked this as the end of veg. Bubblegum was around 44 inches tall, showing more preflowers, and had also lost another branch.

During this stage, rainwater, compost tea, and preventative foliar sprays were used as the season started getting more complicated.

Bubblegum Week 14Bubblegum Week 15

Weeks 16–17 - Flowering Build-Up

As flower developed, MindFlowers68 built a canopy to protect the plants from honeydew dropping from spotted lanternflies in the maple tree above. Bubblegum had reached [139.7:cm] by week 16.

By week 17, it was still stretching a little, the flowers were stacking, and MindFlowers68 said it was starting to get stinky.

Bubblegum Week 16Bubblegum Week 17

Weeks 18–19 - PM Pressure Builds

Week 18 brought bigger buds, stronger smell, and some purple colour coming through, but drizzles and cloudy weather triggered powdery mildew.

MindFlowers68 cut out infected areas and planned to use a UVC sterilizer to avoid spraying.

By week 19, the problem had worsened. MindFlowers68 used UVC along with a baking soda and peroxide spray, but noted the mix was a bit too strong and caused some leaf damage.

Bubblegum continued to be affected more than the other plants, and it was clear the finish might need to be brought forward.

Bubblegum Week 18Bubblegum Week 19

Weeks 20–21 - Early Harvest

By week 20, powdery mildew was starting to settle across more of the garden and the UVC treatment was only working temporarily.

With more rain coming and no dry space available, MindFlowers68 made the call to harvest early.

Bubblegum was cut branch by branch, wet trimmed, and moved straight into the freezer for fresh frozen processing. A week later, another 2.6 oz wet was taken from missed buds, closing out the run.

Detailed Observations & Grower’s Reflections

Bubblegum stood out early with taller growth, which is why MindFlowers68 chose it for the outdoor run. The start was a little slow in the smaller pots, but compost tea helped it get moving.

Once outside, it handled the big living soil setup well and recovered after the falling maple limb removed top growth. The later run was shaped mostly by outdoor pressure, especially honeydew and powdery mildew.

Challenges & Solutions

The first issue was the slower start in smaller plastic pots, which improved once compost tea was introduced. Later on, MindFlowers68 dealt with pest pressure and honeydew by using DE and building a canopy above the plant.

The biggest challenge came late in the run, when Bubblegum had to recover from branch damage and then deal with powdery mildew in flower. After trying removal, UVC, and sprays, MindFlowers68 chose an early harvest.

Final Result and Strain Review

Based on this diary, Bubblegum showed strong early vigor, recovered well from major physical damage, and still made it deep into flower outdoors.

It developed a stronger smell late in the run, with buds getting bigger and showing some purple before harvest.

The finish was forced early by powdery mildew, so the crop went straight to fresh frozen processing instead of a normal dry and cure.

Final recorded numbers were 142 days total, 19.2 oz wet per plant, plus another 2.6 oz wet cut later, with MindFlowers68 rating the run 10/10.
