The next run in gdogfunk's indoor rotation was NYC Diesel. The plan was simple: put the seed under soft fluorescent lights to start it, let it grow for a while, and then move it to the veg tent after the flowering plants were done.
The early progress didn't seem to be going very fast. The seed germinated without any problems, the seedling grew into a healthy plant, and the plant settled into a slow but steady vegetative rhythm in stable conditions.
At this point in the diary, the grow is still in its early stages. So far, the focus has been on careful early growth, light feeding, and getting the plant ready to be moved to a bigger pot when there is room in the tent.

Grow Diary
Weeks 0–1 – Germination and the first few weeks of seedling growth
The grow started on January 23, when the seeds began to sprout. The paper towel method was used to start the seed, and it quickly grew a healthy taproot.
The seed was ready for the soil by January 27. It was planted under a small 48-watt fluorescent light with a heated seed mat to keep it warm. The seedling grew well after being planted, with no problems at first.
The first week of growth was clean and healthy. Gdogfunk kept the plant under the fluorescent light while he waited for space to open up in the main veg tent. The lights were on for 18 hours a day at a temperature of about 75.2 °F, and only a small amount of RapidStart nutrient was added.
Early on, low-stress training was used, but at this point the plant was still small and only focused on growing roots.

Weeks 2–3 – Plants growing slowly but healthily
The plant was about [5.7:cm] tall by the second week and continued to grow under the same fluorescent setup. The light schedule was 18 hours on and 6 hours off, and the temperature during the day stayed around 75.2 °F.
The growth stayed small but healthy. The plant still didn't smell bad, and it didn't look like it was stressed.
The plant reached roughly [8.9:cm] in height by the end of its third week, continuing its gradual ascent. Humidity hovered around 80%, while nighttime temperatures dipped to approximately 69.8 °F.
Gdogfunk mentioned that a transplant was likely imminent. This would allow the stem to be buried more deeply, promoting a more robust root system.

Weeks 4–5 – Training and Waiting for Space
By the fourth week, the plant's height stayed the same, but its structure got stronger. Topping was done at this point to help shape the canopy early on.
Even though the plants were growing well, there wasn't enough room to move on to the next step. The veg tent was still full of other plants that were finishing their flowering cycle, so the transplant had to wait a little longer than planned.
The same thing happened in week five. The plant stayed healthy and stable under the fluorescent light while gdogfunk got ready to pick the last plants in the flower tents.
Low stress training was used again at this point to help shape the plant while it waited to move to the main vegetative space.

Week 6 – Transplant and Soil Rebuild
Finally, week six brought the move that the plant had been waiting for.
After the flower tents were taken down, NYC Diesel was moved to a one-gallon fabric pot. Gdogfunk reused soil from previous runs but rebuilt the mix with worm castings, alfalfa meal, gypsum, blood meal, and kelp meal, all of which are organic.
These additions were meant to keep the reused soil from running out of nitrogen and to keep the plant from getting nutrients from its own leaves later in the grow.
After being moved, the plant was watered with 30 ml of URB and 10 ml of MFP, as well as its usual RapidStart feeding. The plant was ready for the next stage of vegetative growth because it had new soil and more room for its roots to grow.

Detailed Observations & Grower’s Reflections
NYC Diesel has taken a measured start rather than a fast one.
At first, it was mostly about being patient. The plant stayed under a small fluorescent light longer than planned because the main tent was still full, but it didn't seem to mind the wait.
The growth stayed small and steady, with good color and no signs of nutrient problems. The grower didn't overcorrect anything that wasn't obviously a problem, and the feeding stayed light.
The transplant in week six was the first real change. The roots should have room to grow and the plant should be able to grow faster in the next few weeks if you add fresh soil and a bigger pot.
At this stage the plant still feels like it’s just getting started.
Challenges & Solutions
The most difficult part of this grow in the beginning wasn't keeping the plants healthy; it was timing.
The veg tent still had flowering plants in it, so NYC Diesel had to stay under the smaller fluorescent setup longer than they had planned. Gdogfunk didn't rush things; instead, he kept the conditions stable and let the plant grow slowly.
Another thing to think about was using soil that had been used before. Instead of using soil that had been used up from previous grows, the medium was rebuilt with organic amendments that were meant to bring back nitrogen and other nutrients.
After the transplant, the plant had new nutrients and more room for roots, which set it up for stronger growth in the future.
NYC Diesel: Final Result and Strain Review
The plant is still young in this diary, but the base looks strong.
The plant germinated easily, grew well at first, and did well under fluorescent lights for a long time without showing any signs of stress. The real vegetative push starts when the plants are moved to new soil in week six.
The next stage of growth should bring faster canopy growth and stronger branching if the plant does well in the new container and lighting.
For now, NYC Diesel is off to a good start.
