Alaskan Thunder Fuck is not one of those strains you grow by accident.

It is a name with weight. A proper old-school legend. Rangaku had been waiting 15 years to grow it, and this run had a bit more meaning behind it too.

His wife rates Alaskan Thunder Fuck as her favorite smoke of all time, so this WeedSeedsExpress seed had a job to do from day one.

No pressure then.

This was not just another seed in the tent. This was a long-awaited run with a proper old-school name behind it, and the question was simple: could Alaskan Thunder Fuck still live up to the legend?

Grow Diary

Weeks 0-1: Slow Start, Strong Signs

Rangaku started this grow with real excitement. This was not just another seed in the tent. It was a strain he had wanted to grow for years, and the early goal was simple: keep humidity up, let her establish, and do not mess with her too much.

By week 1, she was starting slowly, but looked healthy and strong. No panic. No overcorrection. Just patience.

And that is usually the right call. Some plants sprint early and fade later. Others sit there, think about life for a week, then become the star of the room. This one was already giving off that second kind of energy.

Weeks 2-3: Fat Leaves and First Training

By week 2, she had settled in properly. Rangaku described her as a “phat little thing” with strong growth and vigour. She reached 4 inch, sat under 18 hours of light, and was watered at 1 L with pH held at 6.0.

Week 3 was the first real move. She was topped, trimmed, and transplanted into her 27 L final home. Height doubled to 8 inch, and the grower kept calling out the same thing: those ridiculously fat leaves.

That was the first real personality trait of this grow. Big, chunky leaf structure. Strong early frame. A plant that looked like she was getting ready to throw some weight around.

Weeks 4-5: Shape Building and LST Begins

Week 4 was steady. She stayed at 8 inch but looked healthy, thick, and nicely shaped. Rangaku planned another two weeks of veg before the flip, with defoliation already helping keep things tidy.

Then week 5 hit, and she moved.

The plant jumped to 14 inch, doubled in size, and was defoliated, tied down, and flushed. LST was now fully in play, with the grower spreading her out before flower.

Watering increased to 4 L, and the 27 L pot gave the roots plenty of space to push.

This was the structure week. Not flashy, but important. Get the frame right here, and flower becomes a whole lot easier.

Weeks 6-7: Skunk Shows Up and Flower Begins

By week 6, Alaskan Thunder Fuck was looking strong. Rangaku hit her with more defoliation and LST before flipping. She had huge leaves, a strong build, and already smelled skunky.

That is always a good sign.

Week 7 brought the switch to 12/12. Just four days after changing the light schedule, the grower had already noticed a surge in growth.

Height climbed to 18 inch, and the same plan stayed in place: defoliate, tie down, feed her up, and let her move.

The transition to flower looked clean. No drama, no stall, no sulking. Just growth.

Weeks 8-9: Early Flower and Skunky Momentum

Weeks 8 and 9 were where the flower run started to settle in.

By week 8, she reached 22 inch and was healthy, strong, and already carrying a nice skunky smell. Rangaku kept up the defoliation as she moved deeper into bloom.

Week 9 was more of the same, but with better signs. Defoliate. Tie down. Repeat. The plant was already showing nice flower and was described as a skunky little thing.

This is the part of the grow where she started to look like the name. No soft, polite aroma. No shy flower set. Just classic skunk pushing through and bud sites starting to show intent.

Weeks 10-11: Buds Build, Smell Gets Strong

Week 10 was a proper turn. Height reached 28 inch, and the plant started budding up nicely. Rangaku called her mad skunky and sticky already, with more spreading and defoliation planned.

By week 11, the smell was officially logged as strong. The buds were getting fat, sticky, and dense, with a unique aroma coming through. Rangaku also noted the need to keep airflow up because of that density.

Good call.

Dense flower is great right until it becomes a humidity problem. This plant was stacking hard, so airflow was not optional. It was insurance.

Weeks 12-13: Sticky, Fat, and Stinking Out the Place

Week 12 showed a plant fully locked into flower. Still healthy. Still sticky. Still getting fat. The smell was now distinct and strong, and the grower kept feeding her while letting the flowers continue to build.

By week 13, she was looking beautiful and really stinking out the place. The fade had started, and Rangaku was already thinking she had maybe another couple of weeks left.

This was the point where the run had clearly paid off. The frame was built, the flowers were dense, and the aroma had taken over. A loud, sticky, old-school finish was coming.

Weeks 14-16: Cloudy Trichomes, Dark Period, and Harvest

Week 14 brought cloudy trichomes and a little more fade. Rangaku estimated another two weeks until finish.

By week 15, she was done. The plan was a 48-hour dark period with the dehumidifier running before clipping and chopping. With flowers this dense, that dehumidifier note matters.

The last thing you want is to grow a great plant and then get sloppy right before harvest.

Week 16 was chop time. The plant was trimmed and put on the drying rack. The trim took six hours, but Rangaku said it was not difficult. The flowers were dense, sticky, and smelled phenomenal.

Final grow time was 107 days, with a 10/10 rating and an estimated 12 oz harvest.

Detailed Observations & Grower’s Reflections

This plant had three clear traits from the diary.

First, the leaves were huge. Rangaku kept coming back to that early on, and it shaped the grow. Big leaves are great for engine power, but they also need management indoors. Defoliation was the right move.

Second, the smell came early and kept building. Skunky in veg, stronger in flower, then properly loud by the finish. That is exactly what you want from a strain like Alaskan Thunder Fuck.

Third, the flower density was serious. By mid-flower, Rangaku was already thinking about airflow. By harvest, the buds were dense, sticky, and heavy enough to make the six-hour trim worth it.

This was not a difficult grow, but it was not a lazy one either. It rewarded attention.

Challenges & Solutions

The main challenge early on was patience. She started a little slow, but Rangaku did not overreact. Conditions were kept steady, humidity stayed up, and the plant was given time to establish before any heavy moves were made.

That patience paid off once she started pushing properly in week 2 and week 3.

The next challenge was leaf mass. Alaskan Thunder Fuck came in with big, fat leaves and a thick structure, which meant the canopy needed regular attention.

Rangaku handled this with consistent defoliation from week 3 onward, opening the plant up and keeping light moving through the frame.

Canopy control also became important once the plant started moving harder in veg.

LST was introduced in week 5 and kept in play through flower, helping spread the plant out instead of letting her bunch up into one dense, shaded mass. With a cultivar this leafy, that was the right call.

The final challenge was density. By mid-flower, the buds were getting fat, sticky, and tight, which meant airflow had to stay on point.

Rangaku noted this directly and later used a dehumidifier during the planned 48-hour dark period before harvest. That is the kind of detail that keeps a strong finish from turning into a problem right at the line.

Final Result and Strain Review

This was a proper result.

Alaskan Thunder Fuck feminised from WeedSeedsExpress finished as a strong, skunky, sticky indoor plant with dense flowers and a grower rating of 10/10.

She handled topping, LST, defoliation, transplanting, and the flip without any major logged issues.

The harvest was estimated at around 12 oz, with the grower describing the flower as dense, sticky, and phenomenal smelling.

No final dry-weight confirmation or smoke report was included, so we are not going to invent one. But from the grow notes alone, this plant clearly delivered.

And really, she did exactly what a classic should do.

She started slow, built thick, stretched clean, stacked dense, and finished loud. For Rangaku, this was a long-awaited grow with a sentimental edge, and WeedSeedsExpress came through with the goods.

Old-school name. Big skunk. Dense flowers. Good times ahead.
