In the late 1970s, US breeders tried to improve the genetics of some existing strains, such as Skunk #1. These efforts produced a new variety known as Big Bud, celebrated for its massive buds and high yields.

This strain likely originated from a sturdy, high-yielding pure Afghan crossed with Skunk genetics. Breeders later emigrated to the Netherlands, drawn by its liberal cannabis laws.

There, they refined Big Bud further, creating a variety that became a favorite among commercial growers for its exceptional yields and reliability. 
Out of this evolution emerged Critical feminised, a standout cross between Big Bud and an heirloom Skunk #1.

This strain was developed to deliver potent results with a rapid growth cycle, particularly in northern climates—a goal it achieves with flying colours.

Growing Information

With a very short flowering period, distinctive flavours, and aromas, it’s no wonder this mostly Indica (60%) cross is such a hit. In Critical's case, size doesn’t matter since these plants will still produce impressive crops, making it an exciting all-rounder for weed lovers.

Critical feminised is a true all-rounder and, therefore, interesting for every weed enthusiast. Critical feminised seeds contain all the necessary properties to produce a good yield. The Critical plant is descended from Indica-dominant genetics, evident in its tiny stature, just below 1 meter tall.

Furthermore, the plants exhibit narrow, dark green leaves of the Indica variety and short internodal spaces that eventually fill up with buds. The short height is also well-suited for those who value discretion or want to grow in smaller spaces.

As such, the Critical plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors. However, it is slightly more susceptible to bud rot, mildew, and fungi than the average plant.

Nevertheless, maintaining the strain is relatively easy and, therefore, also interesting for beginners. Ventilation and maintaining the proper humidity levels are essential. Stick to this, and you will be amazed by the results.

Characteristics

Critical feminised seeds grow into compact and stable plants, with average indoor heights between 50 cm and 80 cm. Outdoors, they grow slightly taller, reaching 100 cm to a maximum of 200 cm.

No other strain will yield as much in 8 weeks as Critical feminised. This short flowering time makes it suitable for growers on a tight schedule. It is the perfect solution for commercial growers, delivering large yields with little maintenance.

Despite its limited size, the plant can produce 600 grams per m² in an SOG setup indoors. Under ideal circumstances, the yield can even reach 1300 grams per plant outdoors.

Another requirement for a good cash crop is potency. What’s the point of having a high-yielding plant that lacks efficacy? Fortunately, Critical offers just as much in the effects department as its yield.
